Authors of Base camp

Steve “Opie” Thomas resides in his hometown of Tupelo, MS.  He grew up at Harrisburg Baptist Church were he now is a member. He graduated Union University ('95) where he earned his bachelor of arts in Religion/Youth Ministry. He's been in the ministry for over 24 years. For over 15 years he traveled leading worship for revivals, camps, retreats, conferences, etc. He served as a worship leader for Centrifuge camps for Lifeway from 1999-2007. With hunting and fishing being a passion all of his life, he began his journey with outdoor ministry in 2009. In August of 2012 he accepted the position as National Director of Hope Outdoors (www.hopeoutdoors.org) and has been involved with this organization filming and taking disabled and terminally ill people hunting and fishing while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Edgar Pierce is the Pastor of East Union Baptist of Jackson, TN. He has been huntingsince childhood and has had the opportunity to hunt in several states and a wide range of game. Any given time you will find him in the squirrel woods, rabbit thicket, duck blind or deer stand. He has fished in the fast flowing cold mountain streams, muddy rivers and the wide blue ocean.  He is co-founder of Harvest 365 (www.harvest365.net). He is the author of “Pursuing Fresh Tracks”and co-author of “The Sportsman’s Seasons” men’s Bible studies. He has a Dr. of Ministry from Southern Baptist School, Jacksonville, FL.
He has been married to his lovely wife Joyce for 33 years and they have two sons, Daniel and Cody.
